Hiring Manager is looking for someone who can:

  • Work with me to define process by which chemical calculations of mass or weight per volume are done

  • Document their searches within our product lifecycle management system for products under assessment

  • Complete the defined calculation process for each product

  • Document all findings in a report to be submitted for review and entered into the PLM system

Summary:

 Ability to work independently and within teams to make detailed observations, plan, conduct, summarize, report consistently insightful conclusions, and create recommendations.

  • Highly productive/efficient/effective in the lab or on computer

  • Seeks help in prioritization of assigned activities

  • Ability to draw on past experiential knowledge of technologies in developing new technology

  • Consistently and independently includes appropriate controls to anticipate potential problems; understanding and troubleshooting issues.

  • Strong knowledge of a breadth of standard methods used in the department.

  • Takes a multi-disciplinary approach to problem-solving.

  • Competent or developing competence with some of the following:  Design of Experiment (DOE) methodologies, statistical methods for large dataset analysis (i.e., JMP, etc.), CPM sensitivity analyses, 8D troubleshooting methodology.

  • Familiar and uses systematic problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D) to contribute to teams troubleshooting complex issues to product quality, stability and robustness.

  • Interprets data across multiple experiments.

  • Able to contribute in investigation and resolution of technical problems within project.

  • Can train new hires and RA1/RA2s on new tasks, including scientific concepts behind the tasks

  • Sets standards for excellence -- Establishes criteria and / or work procedures to achieve a high level of quality and productivity.

  • Is an example to others in regards to health and safety in the labs and across campus

  • Can apply insights from previous work to the current project in order to solve problems.

  • Insights may impact next set of steps of R&D.

  • Able to articulate beliefs and ideas in such a manner as to influence next steps of R&D.

  • Plans and prioritizes activities with a week-long vision.

  • Plans and designs a set of experiments to address a question.  Typically plans without assistance, but obtains experiment approvals prior to executing.

  • Learning to identify new & previously unidentified tasks within their project team. 

  • Consistent high quality of execution across experiments of varying complexity and across a broad array of techniques. Foresees issues and works to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments. Conceives of new ways to analyze the data and present it.

  • Providing supporting data on risk and recommendations on risk management in area of responsibility

  • Interfaces with technical vendors effectively.   Provides data and contributes to discussions.

  • Demonstrated ability to achieve goals by performing collaborative experiments with team members across multiple disciplines and with internal customers.

 

Qualifications:

•      Excellent presentation skills.  Actively shares information across project team. 

•      Typically requires BSc/MS with 4+ years of experience

  • Bachelors degree and 3-5 years of experience

Preferred experience:

  • Chemistry or biochemistry background: small molecules, buffers, enzymes, reagent formulation

  • Industry experience with business processes (specifically SAP)

  • Lab experience or equivalent-what I am looking for is a skill that is typically developed in a lab, but this position will likely spend most of the time in front of a computer doing calculations

  • Calculation of molarity, concentration, weight/volume, weight/weight
