We are looking for a talented Research Associate 2 to join our growing Array Product Development Group. You will play an integral role in developing next generation Array-based assays for diverse research and applied markets. You will work as part of a fast paced, multi-disciplinary team focused on the enhancement of current, and development of new biochemical assays, applications and workflows for Illumina’s proprietary BeadArray technology.

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct focused research and development under general direction of supervisor by independently planning, conducting, analyzing, interpreting, and reporting recommendations based on experimental results in routine setting. 

  • Develop new Array applications, assay workflows and assay automation methods.

  • Develop analytical tests and construct controlled experiments to characterize key components and finished reagents.

  • Recognize potential problems, understand and provide impactful insights towards troubleshooting assays and workflows.

  • Deliver results in a fast-paced, results orientated, product development environment.

  • Proactively establish relationships within project team and discipline to drive project goals effectively  

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Skills and Experience: 

  • MSc or BSc in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular biology or other Chemistry or Biology field 1- 5 years’ working experience in an industrial R&D environment.

  • Experience with development and optimization of HPLC methods to quantitatively or qualitatively analyze biomolecules and/or small molecules

  • Expertise in biochemistry and molecular biology methods for plate based biochemical assays and nucleic acid analysis and manipulation

  • Proven record of troubleshooting analytical or bioanalytical assays

  • Able to effectively work independently or within cross functional team to implement and execute experiments, including demonstrated ability to take initiative in interpreting results to form conclusions and suggest next steps.

  • Analytical, detail-oriented, organized and motivated to produce results independently to aggressive timelines.

  • Flexible and adaptable.

  • Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to overcome obstacles to completing tasks or assignments to ensure team can deliver on milestones

  • Excellent lab notebook and documentation skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience with Agilent LC and LC/MS software and hardware

  • Understanding of DOE techniques and statistical analysis. Proficient in data analysis using python, JMP and/or R.

  • Knowledge of quality systems (e.g. ISO 13485) is an advantage.

  • MS or BS or equivalent in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular biology or other Chemistry or Biology field 1- 5 years’ working experience in an industrial R&D environment
